Provedly is now on WordPress.org

The Provedly plugin is live in the WordPress plugin directory: verified WooCommerce purchase notifications, a real live-visitor counter and countdown bars, set up from one admin page.

The Provedly plugin is approved and live in the WordPress plugin directory at wordpress.org/plugins/provedly. In your WordPress admin, open Plugins, Add New, search for "Provedly", install and activate.

What the plugin does

It does three things, and nothing else:

  1. Loads your widget and bars on every page. Paste a widget token and any bar tokens; the plugin prints the script tags. Purchase notifications, the live-visitor counter, countdown, evergreen, real orders and counter bars all come from your Provedly dashboard, so you change them there, not in WordPress.
  2. Creates the WooCommerce webhook. Paste the webhook URL from your widget's Data tab and a signing secret. On save the plugin creates a WooCommerce webhook signed with that secret. Each paid order arrives at Provedly signed, so it earns the "Verified purchase" mark.
  3. Passes the visitor id to each order. The widget's anonymous visitor id is stored on the order, so your dashboard can show which orders followed a notification, measured over a 30-day window rather than estimated.

Set it up

  1. Create a free account at provedly.app and a widget for your store.
  2. In the widget's Data tab, add a WooCommerce source and copy its URL.
  3. In WordPress, open Provedly in the admin menu. Paste the widget token, any bar tokens, the webhook URL and a secret of at least 8 characters, then save.
  4. Paste the same secret into the Provedly source. The status list on the plugin page confirms WooCommerce is detected, the widget loads and the webhook is active.

The widget and bars work on any WordPress site. Order sync needs WooCommerce 7 or newer.

What is sent, and when

The plugin makes no network requests until you enter a token or webhook URL. After that, storefront pages load the widget and bar scripts from provedly.app and send anonymous usage events. When an order is paid, WooCommerce delivers it to your Provedly webhook over HTTPS, signed with your secret. Card numbers and full street addresses are never sent. The full list is in the plugin's readme under "External services".

Free and open source

The plugin is GPL, like every plugin in the directory: you can read, change and share its code. Provedly itself is a hosted service; the free plan includes 2,000 impressions a month, and pricing lists the rest.

If you would rather not add a plugin at all, the hand-written route with a wp_footer hook still works.
